Our WHY...

We launched our organization in 2022. With a collective 30+ years working in behavioral health, we know first hand how hard it is to start over after treatment and prison. How much support is needed and often, due to a persons own choices, how many bridges have been burned and need to be mended. We, through our work and own personal experiences, saw a need for the next step, for help in navigating a new and wonderful life.

We work inside prison walls to support lasting change through our experiential mental health classes. We focus on the fundamentals of living a healthy life, exploring key topics such as trauma, communication, grief, and boundaries. Our approach centers on pouring into individuals, reminding them of their inherent value and capacity for growth. We encourage giving back by engaging participants in meaningful service projects and events, such as hair donation drives and cancer walk support, empowering them to make a positive impact on others as they work toward their own transformation.

At A Place for Hannah, we walk alongside women and youth during some of life’s most critical turning points. Our work spans prevention, incarceration, discharge planning, and community reintegration—creating structured pathways toward healing, stability, and long-term success.
We work directly with incarcerated women and juveniles to prepare for life beyond the facility walls. Through intentional discharge planning, we help individuals create practical, realistic plans for housing, employment, mental health care, and community support before release.
Upon reentry, we provide tangible support—including suitcases, hygiene packs, and essential items—so no one leaves incarceration without dignity. We focus on connection, stability, and immediate needs that often determine whether someone succeeds or returns to crisis.
Our Pathways Program teaches mental health awareness, emotional regulation, accountability, and life skills. We help participants build resilience, strengthen decision-making, and establish healthy community connections that support sustainable independence.
Prevention matters. We partner with local schools to speak openly with students about mental health, trauma, emotional wellness, and understanding the behavioral health field. Our goal is to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and empower young people to better understand themselves and the support systems available to them.
By engaging youth early, we help interrupt cycles before they deepen—equipping students with tools for resilience, self-advocacy, and informed choices.

We exist to create bright, stable futures for previously incarcerated women and justice-impacted youth in Arizona. We connect them to economic opportunity, emotional support, and strong community partnerships—essential resources for rebuilding life on a solid foundation.
A Place for Hannah is where second chances take root and grow.
The women we serve are:
• Restored to their authentic identity and inherent worth.
• Surrounded by a supportive community that fosters healing and renewal.
• Equipped with emotional tools and life skills that empower lasting transformation.
Starting over is rarely easy. It can feel overwhelming, uncertain, and isolating. We are here to bridge that gap—providing structure, support, and connection so no woman or youth has to rebuild alone.
